The spirit of travel
In 5 days of camel trekking, discover the Tafedest massif, in the heart of the Algerian Sahara. Your itinerary begins across the vast sandy expanses that border the west of the massif, before gradually drawing closer to the relief. The caravan then weaves between the granite domes of the Tagouna and Timaqatin massifs, notably passing through the valleys of In Tounin and Ouhet. Along the way, you alternate between wide sand plains, wadis dotted with tamarisks, sand-covered passes and rocky cirques. This camel trek allows you to discover the different landscapes of Tafedest, at the pace of the caravan and bivouacs under the stars, in a simple and authentic approach to the desert.

Highlights
Day-by-day itinerary

Departure from Paris to Tamanrasset
Paris Aéroport → Tamanrasset
At the end of the day, you take your direct flight Paris - Tamanrasset, marking the beginning of your trip to Algérie.
Upon arrival, you are welcomed by our local team before your transfer to the hotel.

From Tamanrasset to In Amguel
Early in the morning, you take the road by car using the transsaharan route to The city of In Salah. You head towards the village of In Amguel, the first stop of this day across the Algerian Sahara.
In Amguel → Adenek
You continue your journey towards the southern foothills of the Tafedest. Your route leads you to the Adenek wadi, where you have a meeting with the caravan that will accompany you for the rest of the trip.

Tin Rinden > Tin Malou > Oued Abezzou
Adenek → Abezzou
You begin your journey northward by following the wadi Tin Rinden, bordered to the west by the Téfédest massif.
You then cross the small rocky pass of Tin Malou, before continuing your progression to the bivouac site, set near the wadi Abezzou.

Along the Tefedest towards the Amser Wadi
Abezzou → Amser
To the west stretch vast plains, while to the east the chaotic reliefs of Tafedest are drawn. You skirt the massif by passing near a few isolated peaks before reaching the vast depression carved by the Amser wadi.
The tamarisks offer you a shaded halt, while the Amser well allows you to refill the waterskins. After the rains, a wide guelta forms at the foot of the dunes, bringing a presence of water to this Saharan landscape.

Crossing to Wadi In Takouffé
Amser → In Takoufé
You continue your hike across a sandy trail and cross a vast plain before crossing a pass. This gives you access to the corridor of the oued In Takouffé, which crosses the massif. You observe the camels gradually descending into the sand while, facing you, the dark chain of the Téfédest and its crenellated profile emerge.
In Takoufé → Téhé N'Ahar
You descend the Wadi In Takoufé for a while and enjoy the shade of its tamarisk trees, one of the rare shaded spots in the area. You then take one of its tributaries on the right bank, which gradually leads you towards a vast plateau. Its slope ends against a string of dunes nestled between the flanks of the massif: Téhé n'Ahar, the Lion's Pass. You then cross the pass through the sand before continuing your route.

From Wadi Sendider to Timaqatin Amphitheatre
Téhé N'Ahar → Timaqatin
After a bivouac in the verdant wadi of Sendider, you continue your hike to the Timaqatin cirque, a site with picturesque character.
In the heart of the sandy plain stand large rounded domes with smooth flanks. Some are adorned with paintings dating from different periods of the Neolithic, testifying to ancient human presence in the region.
Timaqatin → In Tounin
In the afternoon, you leave Timaqatin by crossing Téhé n'Tachelin (the Vipers Pass), a particularly sandy pass. You then follow a vast corridor between mountains and dunes, before joining the oued In Tounin, which cuts deep into the heart of the massif.

The foothills of Garet el Djenoun
In Tounin → Garet El Djenoun
You continue your hike northwards to reach the Sugarloaf of In Tounin, at the foot of which hides a guelta. You then skirt the mountain as closely as possible and cross successively the wadis Ti Leouen and Timsenagen. Gradually, the peak of Garet El Genoun takes shape on the horizon. You then head towards one of its foothills to set up your last bivouac, at the foot of a dune.

Return to Tamanrasset
Garet El Djenoun → Tamanrasset
Early in the morning, you take the road by vehicle to reach Tamanrasset. At In Amguel, you rejoin the paved road and continue your journey, with a meal planned along the way. You arrive in Tamanrasset in the afternoon and settle into the inn. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the city at your own pace. Tamanrasset has become an important city in recent years. Its center nevertheless retains its authentic character, particularly through its streets shaded by tamarisk trees.
You spend the evening in a simple and comfortable inn.

Flight to Paris
Tamanrasset → Paris Aéroport
At night, you are transferred to Tamanrasset airport to take your direct flight Tamanrasset-Paris. You arrive in Paris in the early morning, marking the end of your trip to Algérie. The exact flight times will be communicated to you later.

OUR TRIPS ARE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
Tamanrasset region, Hoggar, Tefedest, Immidir, Ahnet and Tassili du Hoggar:
Since September 2025, increased restrictions (mandatory escort in Tamanrasset) limit our camel trekking and méharée expeditions, preventing us from taking the emblematic routes of Atakor and Hoggar. These constraints challenge the very essence of our expeditions, founded on freedom and adventure.
We are suspending our trips, not without bitterness. Our circuits remain visible online, a testament to these exceptional Saharan landscapes.
