Here's how a typical day of camel trekking unfolds:
Wake at sunrise, followed by breakfast. Pack your bags and prepare the loads. While the camel herders take care of loading the animals, we set off with your guide-accompanier.
Participants walk on foot, with baggage transported by pack camels. You need only carry essentials in your backpack for the day (sweater, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottles), along with some trail snacks and, occasionally, a small packed lunch to share. Midday stop (11am or 12pm). Cold meal. Resume trekking in mid-afternoon.
Arrive at camp as evening approaches.
One or two backup camels are on standby in case of fatigue, discomfort, or illness, and will only be used in such circumstances. If you're feeling fit, you should not expect to cover part of the stages by camel.
